About Lake Louise, Alberta
Lake Louise, Alberta - the essence of the Canadian Rockies
Lake Louise in beautiful Banff National Park has become the icon of the Canadian Rockies for its history and unparallel mountain lakes and landscapes. There is only one place that offers the spectacular mountain wilderness, abundant wildlife, four seasons of outdoor adventure and world class hotel accommodations.
The Lake Louise area is divided into two mini-communities. The main community, referred to as The Village, is at a slightly lower elevation just off the Trans Canada Highway. This is where the Mountaineer Lodge is located. The Village has a small shopping area, Samson Mall, which includes Travel Alberta /Banff National Park visitor centre, grocery store, Laggans Bakery, a deli, restaurant, gift boutiques, liquor store and sporting goods / equipment rental shop. The Lake Louise Ski Resort is located across the highway; about 4 minutes drive from the Mountaineer Lodge hotel accommodations. The second mini-community is centred around the historic Chateau Lake Louise, adjacent to the famous Lake Louise.
The backdrop of Lake Louise village is filled with views of several snow-capped mountains including Mount Temple (3,543 m / 11,624 ft), Mount Whyte (2,983 m / 9,787 ft) and Mount Niblock (2,976 m / 9,764 ft). Mount Whitehorn, which our family suite and honeymoon suite are named after is part of the Lake Louise Ski Resort.
